Count to Ten

Time how long it takes your baby to make 10 movements. A simple, recommended method for daily movement checks.

What is count to ten?

Count to ten (also known as "kick counts") is a method recommended by many midwives and obstetricians. You start a timer and count each movement — kicks, rolls, jabs — until you reach 10. The time it takes gives you a useful baseline for your baby's normal activity level.

How it works

  • Start a session — tap "Start" and the timer begins.
  • Tap each movement — every time you feel your baby move, tap the button. The counter shows your progress from 0 to 10.
  • Auto-complete — once you hit 10 the session saves automatically with the elapsed time.
  • History — review past sessions to spot changes in how long it takes to reach 10 movements.

When to do it

Most providers suggest picking a time when your baby is usually active — often after a meal or in the evening. If your baby usually reaches 10 within an hour and suddenly takes much longer, contact your healthcare provider.
